1.32 Waste Gated Exhaust Housing
    This exhaust housing is waste gated with a short travel actuator. The actuator has a 38 PSI spring to keep turbo shaft RPMs and drive pressure down, which keeps the turbo running in the correct efficiency range. This also includes a 28 PSI spring if you're running it in a twin set up and want to dump the exhaust into the atmosphere charger sooner.

    3406E - C15 800hp Camshaft
    This is the 800hp industrial/marine cam used in C16 and C18 Cat Engines. This is a drop in camshaft for 3406E/C15 engines looking for more performance out of their engine. We have used this cam in many of our own builds in the shop and have had great results.
    This camshaft does not work well with small injectors like 8501's or 8502's. The nozzle holes are to small and this causes fuel pressure to build up to pressures that the injector internally can not tolerate. Common side effects of using this cam with small injectors on this cam are the engine fluttering under a load above 1500rpm and sometimes the injector will just simply miss.

    3406E/C15 .003" Undersized Spacer Plate
    3406E/C15 .003'' undersized plate is recommended when your liner protrusions are too low to use the standard thickness plate. We use this plate 90% of the time, if we are changing just the head with the engine having several miles on it and we are not replacing liners. Liners tend to sink a couple thousandths after the engine has been built for sometime and this spacer plate will help get your protrusions back within spec.

    We recommend using a new spacer plate with each overhaul. Lots of people decide to clean up the old spacer plate and reuse it but this is not a good idea. On the 3406E/C15 liner protrusion is crucial to making the head gasket last as long as the rest of the engine. If your liner protrusions are off just .0015 of an inch and then you use a old wore out spacer plate that may be off that same amount we guarantee you'll be back into the engine in a very short time. Don't let the cost of a spacer plate keep you from rebuilding the engine the right way. Once and done is cheaper than the time or labor to pull that head off again.

    This head is fire ringed, which is a small stainless steel ring that pressed into a groove that is machined into the head. The stainless ring protrudes out of the head and crushes into the head gasket just behind where it seals combustion in the cylinder. This helps back up the head gasket fire ring, aiding in a more stabile head gasket. Think of the fire ring as a brace on a dam wall that will keep pressure from blowing out the dam wall when extra pressure is added.
